Skype re-discovered

I haven’t been using Skype for a while. In some ways I didn’t see the point really. I didn’t regularly call people on Skype and people didn’t call me. And when they did it was a faff because I didn’t have my headphones plugged in and had to scrabble about trying to find them.

However recently I have started using it again and I have to say I am quite becoming friends with it. I’ve discovered how to turn off the silly mood messages which were annoying (you find that in preferences) and now I quite like signing in in the morning and seeing who else is “out there” with me. In fact several of my current contacts on Skype are from a previous office where I used to work. While we are all ‘scattered to the winds’ nowadays, seeing them all on Skype is rather like having the old office back together in a virtual world.

And yesterday I was just finishing off some work at the end of the morning when my friend called out of the blue from Tasmania. No, I didn’t have my headphones plugged in. Yes, I did scrabble about but in fact I didn’t need them as the line was really clear and it was just like having her in the room to chat to. A lovely surprise and not one I could have taken part in if Skype hadn’t been there.

So, you’re back on Skype and I’m enjoying your company.
