Need to view the same webpage two different ways?

I can’t believe I haven’t thought of this before but its one of those really silly things that you just go on doing until someone asks “WHY are you doing that?”.

Scenario: developing a Drupal website where I get different screens depending on whether I am signed in to the system or not. I had tried opening another tab but of course I’m still signed in, so I get to see the same screen. So my answer was to use another computer. Worked but, well, how many computers do you need hanging round the place?

The answer: open another browser! Signed in on Firefox, signed out on Safari – bingo – and I get to check that it’s displaying in a different browser correctly (which of course I would do anyway, just perhaps not at the same time as developing).

This morning I realised that this will also be useful for Googlemail where I can be “someone else” on the other browser.

As I said, so straightforward I can’t believe I didn’t think of it before. So I’m putting it here in black and white so I don’t forget again!
